Before I got up the nerve to ask my wife on our first date nearly two decades ago, I relied a great deal on the feedback from her friends to try and triangulate my feelings for her as well as gauge her interest in me.

However, once we started dating the time we spent together talking and sharing experiences soundly trumped any past interactions with her friends because I had a direct line connecting me to her.

That’s how I felt after reading Keith Ferrin‘s book 10 Tips for Liking the Bible - a saw a direct line to connecting with God.

The main point of this tidy, terse tome is that God seeks relationship with us above everything else. And the best way to understand that relationship – and ergo God – is by spending time reading His divinely-inspired word.

All too frequently, it’s our own misperceptions and preconceived notions about what we THINK the bible is that limit our engagement and enjoyment of its beauty – ultimately hindering our relationship with God.

Keith’s easy-to-follow tips help clear the fog and haze away from the ancient text, helping instill not just a deep sense of “liking” for the bible but potentially a love for its light as well.

We could all probably benefit a bit more light in our lives.

To find out more about Keith and this book, please read the interview I posted yesterday titled “7 Questions With an Author: Keith Ferrin.
